2017 TechNet Augusta

Morning Keynote CIO/G6 Panel - "Network Modernization Update" (Room Oglethorpe Ballroom)

The evolution of operational environment indicates that future operations will be significantly different than those of the past.  Today, US joint forces are being challenged across all domains.  The Army's current 12-year old communications construct was focused on sustained operations in a mature theater with a heavy reliance on fixed infrastructure that concealed significant training deficiencies.  Future expeditionary operations must incorporate flexible means to present multiple dilemmas to an enemy and create temporary windows of localized control to shape, deter, seize the initiative, dominate and stabilize.  Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Operations will span across all phases of this Multi-Domain Environment.  As we transition, it will require Signal elements that are trained, equipped, organized, and postured for such rapid global deployment in response to the full spectrum of conflict.

The future Army Enterprise Network will be “secure, integrated, standards-based environment” that will provide uninterrupted access and collaboration to support decision making at all operational levels.  Discussions will center on the complexity of the Network and current and future challenges to bridge the Army to the 21st Century.  Panel members will highlight priority programs and efforts across the Department of the Army as they relate to the network to include, but not limited to Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) Migration, Data Center Consolidated, Cloud Migration, and Windows 10 Migration.

Attendees to this session will better understand the complexity of the changing environment and will be able to challenge the panel members on issues that impact operations now and into the future.  Additionally, panel members will be available after the session to conduct more detailed questions that could not be addressed during the session.
