The opioid crisis affects millions of people across the country and the pace of addiction and death in some communities is staggering. The crisis has overwhelmed many rural hospital emergency departments, clinics and physician practices. The complexity of the crisis requires coordinated medical, legislative, behavioral, educational and legal changes.
