The construction industry is in the midst of a rapidly changing environment for the allocation of risk, while at the same time delivery methods are evolving.  Risk allocation in one context may make little sense in another, but it is increasingly clear that contract terms from one method are creeping into others that may not be right fit.

Are we headed for a prudent and new alignment of risk, or heading towards a collapse under the weight of unsustainable and unmanageable risk shifting?

This panel will discuss the resulting realities to Contractors and Owners as they consider contract terms and price projects, including current trends across the U.S. and how both sides may be ultimately managing or mismanaging risk across the spectrum.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Develop an understanding of Owner-Builder risk allocation in the current environment.
  • Understand how new and changing risk allocation among parties impact project delivery methods.
  • Understand the ways in which competition, contract terms and pricing come into play in today’s environment.
