ACT Expo 2017

Platooning for Increased Cost Savings and Safety (Room 103A)

With two-truck driver-assistive platooning systems slated for commercial release in 2017, this fuel and emissions savings technology can provide a clear return on investment. These systems can also provide the financial justification to add safety and collision mitigation systems to a truck, and can also lead to higher levels of truck automation in the future. This session will provide a comprehensive update on the latest platooning technologies being tested and made available to the market, together with an overview of the latest regulatory considerations at the state and federal levels. In addition, this session will provide an overview of the evolution in trucking from increased efficiency and safety technologies, to platooning and driver-assist technologies, and ultimately to more complete automation and potentially driverless trucks. Speakers will outline the details and timelines for the different phases in this evolution, and the expected economic ROI for each phase.
