DISTRIBUTECH International 2020

Increasing Reliability for Remote Communities and Rural Areas with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) (Room 217D)

As utilities seek to improve grid reliability in what is often low-density areas of the network, the conversation around using battery energy storage (BESS) as an economically viable non-wires alternative to grid reinforcement is being re-vitalized given the recent steep decline in storage costs.  This session will focus on challenges faced and lessons learned when deploying storage and distributed generation in remote, isolated communities.
