Clay Koplin is the Chief Executive Officer of Cordova Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEC), where he has worked with a small, dynamic team to develop an advanced micro-grid system featuring 100% underground distribution lines and fully automated diesel and hydroelectric power plants. He has worked with the US State Department to share micro grid best practices in Greenland and Canada and is currently serving on the Electricity Advisory Committee of the US Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity. Clay also represents CEC as a key partner with the Department of Energy in the RADIANCE Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium. This project is applied to the grid in Cordova, Alaska to develop cyber-secure, resilient, interactive, and transactive technologies on the path to smart grid, smart city architectures on both the national grid and islanded systems. Clay enjoys community service, writing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
