Distribution automation has been present within utilities for years and is now being utilized to drive various applications aimed at improving reliability, operating the system safer, and allowing the integration of conservation initiatives. In this session, three utility representatives present their experiences in fault location, isolation and service restoration (FLISR), switch order management (SOM), and volt-VAR optimization (VVO). The presentations focus on areas such as business case development and implementation strategy, lessons learned, operational experience and metrics from using the applications.
