Michael W. Derrios currently serves as Senior Procurement Executive and Head of Contracting Activity for the United States Coast Guard. In this capacity, Mr. Derrios has responsibility for all contracting functions within the agency, including functional responsibility for over 500 civilian and military personnel throughout the United States and abroad. The U.S. Coast Guard spends approximately $3 billion each year through more than 40,000 procurement transactions. Mr. Derrios is a recognized leader in the field of government acquisition with more than 20 years of federal and private sector experience. He is a member of the Senior Executive Service. Prior to his joining the Coast Guard, Mr. Derrios was a plank holder for the Transportation Security Administration and helped stand up the agency from its inception and continuing through its transition to the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Derrios led the Threat Assessment and Sector Management Division within the TSA Office of Acquisition, managing a portfolio valued at over $2 billion in life cycle costs and encompassing security programs that performed vetting and credentialing across the transportation sector. He also led the Checkpoint Technologies Division in the TSA Office of Security Capabilities, where he was responsible for the Program Management Office that procured and deployed the nationwide fleet of passenger and carry-on baggage screening equipment, valued at $5 billion in life cycle costs. Mr. Derrios served as program manager for the expansion of TSA PreCheck and supported several major acquisition programs at TSA, including Secure Flight, Transportation Worker Identification Credential, Hazardous Material Endorsement, International Crew Vetting and Air Cargo Screening. He also served as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Administrator for Acquisition, where he developed and implemented strategic initiatives to bolster performance.
