Dr. Francisco García-Hernández holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a Master’s Degree and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. In 1974 Dr. García began his professional career in the Production Division of the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) and subsequently has held various positions at Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) such as Well Productivity Manager, Leader of the Cantarell Strategic Project, and Production Project Manager of the South Region. In 2011 he was appointed Technical Resources Development & Implementation Manager. Additionally, he has collaborated with the Graduate School of Engineering and the School of Earth Sciences at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and with UNAM’s School of Engineering. He is currently member of the Mexican Engineering Academy, the Mexican Association of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), where he serves on the Board of the SPE Mexico Section.
