Dr. Luo is a Research Engineer at Shell’s Deepwater Innovation R&D group based in Houston. He is currently working on various projects in the area of offshore, subsea and downhole structure integrity. Graduated with PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, Dr. Luo specializes in nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) and has a strong background in solid mechanics, specifically related to material constitutive modeling, fracture mechanics and experimental material characterization. Prior to Shell, Dr. Luo has worked for Honeywell from 2012 to 2014, where he was responsible for the structural analysis and fatigue life predictions of turbine machinery.
