Tim Lee is Vice President of AMOG Consulting Inc in Houston. Tim’s expertise is in the area of mooring system design, analysis, and integrity management. This work involves advanced numerical simulation, physical model testing, and field inspection and testing of mooring systems, and ranges from development of design criteria and concept engineering, through to detailed design, expert review, and forensic investigation of system failures. Through his involvement in the forensic investigation of mooring system degradation, Tim has personally conducted the visual inspection and biological activity testing associated with Microbiological Influenced Corrosion (MIC) of mooring system components, and has a high level of experience in the very real practical problems associated with field data collection in the offshore production environment. Tim has also been project manager for several AMOG collaborations with academia, coordinating multidisciplinary teams across fields including marine biology, hydrodynamics, civil engineering of offshore structures, mooring systems design, corrosion engineering and electrochemistry, fracture mechanics, and materials testing. Tim is the project manager of the DeepStar® funded project CTR12402 Integrity Management of Mooring Systems Against Corrosion, investigating the functional microbiological processes associated with MIC of mooring system components in different geographical regions, via the application of surface chemistry and genetic analysis techniques, as a step towards understanding the fundamental processes of MIC on mooring chain and how it may be best mitigated.
