Ujjval K. Vyas, Ph.D., J.D. is an independent business consultant and scholar. He is principal of Alberti Group, a Chicago-based consultancy specializing in matters related to the built environment, including sustainability and risk management in the A/E/C industry, insurance, and real estate. He has lectured and published extensively in this arena, particularly regarding legal and public policy issues associated with green building rating systems and high-performance buildings. He is a licensed attorney and practiced construction law for a decade. In addition to his career as an attorney and business consultant, Dr. Vyas was trained as an intellectual historian and taught architectural history, theory, and design at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Vyas received his J.D. with honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago's interdisciplinary Committee on the History of Culture.
