Lydia's first glimpse of tea gardens was when she was doing dissertation fieldwork (about factory women) in Taiwan. After years in academia, Lydia has returned to tea as an importer and wholesaler. Trends may come and go, but years of tasting teas bring her a continued appreciation of the sheer variety of teas and the lessons along the journey of discovery. Decades of working with dependable suppliers and trips to tea gardens yield a visual and palate memory that serves her well in curating teas. Educating the public is a foremost priority, and years of serving as an NATC judge has brought a deep and broad perspective about quality teas, and refining benchmark teas in all categories.
