Shunan Teng is a devoted tea drinker, avid educator, and founder of acclaimed Tea Drunk, a New York City destination for connoisseurs seeking exceptional tea and tea knowledge. Teng is at the forefront of preserving the 2000-year tea making artisanship, and opening access in the West to the highest level of Chinese teas. Her relentless in-the-field pursuit combined with studies of the ecological, agricultural and biochemical aspects of tea has made a remarkable contribution in the continuing research of the subject. A widely recognized expert in tea education, Teng has been interviewed by leading publications and TV programs including New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, Bon Appetit and China News. She has also spoken at seminars and events held by prestigious institutions including Yale University and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and she did a series of talks at Stony Brook University’s Charles B. Wang Center on the subject of tea.
