William (Bill) Weissinger is the District Director in the Chicago District Office of the US Food and Drug Administration. He supervises the district’s emergency response functions and facilitates district integration with state and local health departments though partnership and contracts. He also assists the District Director with coordination and execution of all oversees, and domestic food and animal feed inspections, investigations, recalls, samplings and regulatory activities, except for grade A dairy, shellfish, and retail for the states of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Previously, Mr. Weissinger was an Investigator with the Chicago District Office and a Quality Control Manager for the Kroger Company at Vandervoort’s Dairy in Ft. Worth, TX. He received his B.S. in Biology from Purdue University in 1997 and his Master’s in Food Science from the University of Georgia in 2000 where he specialized in food microbiology. Mr. Weissinger has co-authored several scientific articles on the survival of Salmonella in regards to specific food.
