Brandon Schoettle
University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute
Mr. Schoettle is a project manager for Sustainable Worldwide Transportation at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI). He is a co-author for an ongoing series of reports (white papers) investigating international public opinion, human factors, regulatory, and safety-related issues regarding connected and self-driving vehicles. Other recent research has focused on: international road-safety trends; crash analyses; assessment of driver preferences and performance using on-road testing, closed-track testing, laboratory experiments, and simulator studies; driver licensing and demographic trends; new vehicle fuel economy and emissions; and automotive lighting and vision systems, including application and development of applicable U.S. and international standards and regulations. Mr. Schoettle is also a co-developer and the current project manager for the Eco-Driving Index (EDI), a national index that estimates the average monthly greenhouse gas emissions produced by new light-duty vehicles. He has extensive public speaking and national and international media interview experience including NBC Nightly News, NPR, Time, The New York Times, CNN, Bloomberg, Quartz, and Automotive News.
