This interactive and fast-paced presentation explores the reasons why fire service personnel should become knowledgeable with modern aerial ladder operations. Presented will be best practices when positioning and operating aerial ladders for fire and rescue operations. Topics include proper placement and use of aerial ladders for both aggressive fire attack as well as technical rescue situations. The various types of aerial apparatus advantages and disadvantages will be discussed as well as the physics behind aerial devices and their improper operation. Also discussed will be OSHA, manufacturer recommendations and NFPA standards involved, as well as aerial ladder failure case studies.
