JATC members and employees typically must act only in the interest of the JATC when acting in their capacity as JATC representatives. Questions of appropriate separation arise most often in connection with (1) apprentices’ union membership and dues payment, and (2) confidentiality of JATC and Fund meetings. In this session we will discuss (1) the legal need for separation; (2) problems with JATC involvement in matters of the apprentices’ union membership and dues payment; and (3) best practices to promote confidentiality, including tips for taking, maintaining, and distributing JATC meeting minutes.
