Millennials crave special foods that make them feel good--inside and out. We like to think of it as taking us back to our roots, reinventing traditions of the past to develop innovative foods for today. Using social media platforms, we now have a way to share our food passions with the world, including why we support certain companies. In today’s day and age we grow up in a climate that we commonly refer to as “canceling culture”. Canceling culture is one that is centered around the idea that I can choose to call out a company based on ethical issues, lack of ingredient transparency, etc--and work towards getting that product/company “canceled”. If millennials feel that the company is in violation of any ethical, health, political, or emotional issue then they push for a shift in spending from that company unto another that is more in line with their views and or causes. So, how do we as product developers use that knowledge to create products that can survive in this culture and resonate with millennial core beliefs? How do we create foods for a more health conscious consumer base? How do we innovate and stay healthy behind a millennial mindset? Let’s tune in to our inner selves and find the millennial in you.
