In 2017, the AIA updated its A201 general conditions form; the previous update was in 2007. This presentation will review the 2017 version of the A201 form and identify important updates from the 2007 version, and identify sections that will effect dispute resolution proceedings. In particular, this session will review critical A201 sections that are often misinterpreted or ignored by parties to dispute resolution.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand potential issues when entering into an agreement that incorporates the A201 terms in order to improve contract administration and mitigate risk exposure to parties to the contract.
  • Understand general legal principles and historical trends in dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Understand the changes and updates to the A201 form and how it impacts the dispute resolution process.
