This session will utilize a problem-based review to review the initial assessment and management of major chest and chest wall trauma. Topics that will be covered include: hemo/pneumothorax, flail chest, pulmonary contusion, pericardial tamponade, and blunt cardiac injury. The session will start with a description of care that should be started in the field and include the types of interventions performed upon arrival to the hospital to give the medic a complete understanding of how to care for these injuries.
