Some experts suggest that traditionally used treatment algorithms do not adequately address cases of refractory ventricular fibrillation. In this session, Dr. Cortez will provide a working definition of refractory ventricular, provide you with tips for its recognition in the prehospital setting, and unique prehospital approaches to treatment, including double sequential defibrillation and sympathetic blockade. Dr. Cortez will also present advanced treatment options such as early reperfusion therapy and the use of ECMO to save refractory VFib patients.
