Recognizing and addressing the mental health needs of your staff can be a herculean task that can be intimidating. You may be asking: Where do I start? This presentation will answer that question through empowerment, a change of culture, resiliency training and attacking the mental health stigma while exploring approaches required to make the necessary changes and detailing the steps of the long but rewarding journey. 

After adding a proactive peer support component to our CISM model in 2014, ALL staff received training outlining the 5 W’s of peer support, benefits and limitations. This evolved into regular peer support training including topics such as compassion fatigue, resiliency, neuroplasticity and even nutrition. Our team has built a new program from the ground up working off a 26-page list of ideas generated in 2014. We have incorporated continuous assessment of need, usage and results using surveys with limited resources. Now in our 4th year, we continue to evolve based on our changing needs.
