Tracks: Future of EdTech Special Education

K-12 students cannot score proficiently on rigorous academic testing, or successfully transition to college/career, without possessing strong executive functioning skills. These include the ability to focus and display self-control, communicate and make interpersonal connections; think critically and take on challenges; and engage in self-directed learning. Special and general educators must know how to employ technology to support each of these critical skills. In this BYOD workshop chock full of practical advice, Mary Schillinger will highlight 25 proven techniques you can use to structure the learning environment, teach specific executive functioning skills and support these skills through student use of ed tech tools. Mary will provide criteria you can use to select appropriate technology, as well as concrete examples of effective technology programs and applications. You'll also have opportunities to learn from your colleagues about particularly useful ed tech tools that help strengthen students' executive function skills in core areas.
