24 Apr 18
1:15 PM - 2:30 PM

Tracks: Administration

Difficult questions and practical challenges arise when addressing accommodations for a student with a severe allergic reaction to pet dander while there is a service animal in the classroom, or when balancing the rights of a student with a disability who engages in dangerous conduct with the rights of others who expect to be safe at school. Attorney Eric Rodriguez will identify those laws that may collide and help identify factual scenarios that may require you to balance competing interests. You’ll take away practical guidance to help keep students safe while complying with legal mandates of the IDEA, Section 504, the ADA, and the First Amendment.
