B6 | Suicide Risk Assessment (Room Cortez CD)

Students can experience a rollercoaster of emotions as they progress through school. However, some will experience intense emotional challenges that may lead them to thoughts of self-harm and suicide. In this session, school psychologist Benjamin Fernandez will provide you with an understanding of the warning signs, risk factors, protective factors, and other components necessary for a comprehensive suicide risk screening to identify and provide appropriate interventions for suicidal students. You will also learn to discern between common myths and facts related to youth suicide and will leave with an understanding of how to document your district’s suicide risk assessment and notify parents.
