Dyslexia — the most common learning disability — has recently become one of the hottest topics in special education law across the country. Through a review of recent case decisions in this rapidly expanding area of litigation, Attorney Jan Tomsky will focus on some of the most problematic issues for IEP teams, both in determining IDEA eligibility and providing services for students diagnosed with dyslexia. This session imparts important lessons for school staff and administrators on topics such as child find, FAPE, and evaluations. You will leave this session with several practical compliance takeaways to use in your school district with your staff, including effective and compliant strategies for responding to parent requests for specific assessments or interventions.
