Leveraging Promises and Avoiding Pitfalls in Building Information Modeling: Introducing The New National BIM Guide for Owners (Room 205B)

Ever wish that someone would just say, “Here, read this!”, and you could have all your how-to questions about BIM answered in one, neat publication? You can! Let the National Institute of Building Sciences introduce you to its National BIM Guide for Owners (NBGO), which defines an approach to creating and fulfilling BIM requirements from the owner’s standpoint. Opened for public review in September, 2015, the NBGO builds on the premise that BIM is not the end but rather the means to a number of potentially valuable project delivery outcomes for the building owner. This presentation pairs a building owner (and NBGO project chair) and a BIM specialist, both part of the document authoring team, in a discussion moderated by the team leader to explain the NBGO’s construct and principles.
