Speaker(s): Serge Dedina
Serge Dedina is the Executive Director and co-founder of WILDCOAST, an international team that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems and is the author of Saving the Border. Most recently he was named a Peter Benchley "Hero of the Seas" for his role in helping to preserve some of the ocean’s most iconic wildlife hotspots, including gray whale lagoons, whale shark feeding sites, sea turtle nesting beaches and, more recently, coral reefs in Cuba. Dr. Dedina will discuss his adventures in protecting and exploring wild coastlines in California, Australia, Mexico and Cuba, all illustrated by beautiful and inspiring photos. Whether he is working to preserve California’s ocean treasures, innovating new ways to preserve gray whale habitat in Baja or saving Mexico’s mangrove lagoons with rock superstars Linkin Park, Dr. Dedina, always has a fascinating story to tell about why we need to conserve our coast and ocean.
