504: Medicaid: Lessons Learned in Medicaid Managed Care (Room Summerlin D)

The greatest growth in home care is in Medicaid services. This increase is triggered by the nationwide rebalancing of Medicaid spending on long-term care as more states shift their focus to home and community-based care and away from institutional care in nursing homes. Accompanying this shift is a wholesale movement from Medicaid fee-for-service to Medicaid managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS). This program explores lessons learned in the first years of MLTSS about payment rate changes, use of services controls, audit practices, and network participation standards. Medicaid home care now accounts for $75 billion in spending, so this program is a must for today’s home care organizations.
