Wendy Swager is the CEO and owner of 3 companies that provide social services in the state of Arizona. She has 35 years experience in the provision of services to people with disabilities in both the US and Australia. Wendy has a BA and Diploma in Science in Psychology from the University of Newcastle, NSW. In 2000 she opened SOREO, In Home Support Services, offering in home services to people with IDD, the elderly and people with physical disabilities. Today Soreo supports approximately 1,500 people in three counties. In 2010 Soreo opened a Hospice and Palliative Care division. In 2014 Soreo opened A Home Health division. Wendy is a past-President of the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR), the largest association for IDD providers in the USA. Wendy is the current Chair of the Leadership Council for the National Federation of Independent Businesses. In 2015 Governor Ducey appointed Wendy to the Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council. Wendy is a pioneer in alternate management models for in-home services and effective 2014 Soreo’s Direct Support Professionals are independent contractors. In 2015 and 2016 Wendy worked on a statewide workgroup of government representatives, providers and other professionals to create regulation that supports the use of the independent contractor model while ensuring legal compliance and protection for the consumer/participant, frontline worker, provider and state government.
