One critical line of defense in workplace safety systems is front-line employees’ ability to detect and respond appropriately to blatant hazards as well as weak signals of upsets in the making. A significant part of this person-dependent detection process involves human vision. But what if the human vision system itself is a workplace hazard? This session will explore four Brain-Centered Hazards that involve human vision and its interdependence with our brain’s dual-processing system. You’ll learn why accurate, consistent and sustainable situational awareness and hazard recognition can be achieved only by first addressing the Brain-Centered Hazards in our workplaces.
