The Elements of an Effective Dust Hazards Analysis (DHA) (Room 242)

Although all NFPA combustible dust standards now retroactively require a Dust Hazard Analysis to be performed, the importance of a DHA goes far beyond just a requirement. Unfortunately, all DHAs are not created equal, and all too often they misidentify or ignore serious fire and explosion hazards. This presentation will discuss the NFPA-specified minimum requirements for a DHA. We’ll also cover the importance of the qualifications of the individual(s) performing the DHA, how unqualified individuals can negatively affect the DHA, and some of the most common inadequately identified or missed hazards.
