PS033 | Helping English Language Learners Develop Literacy, Life and Career Skills (Room Booth 461)

This workshop showcases Classroom, Inc’s(CI) digital learning games that engage students in self-directed learning by placing them in the role of the boss in professional worlds and by supporting educators in creating student-centered classrooms. The session, led by CI staff and secondary educators, connects the story of iterating a game-based curriculum guided by research with the story of how the games are used in after-school programs. It focuses on how English Language Learners develop literacy and 21st-century life and career skills through the games. Participants play and discuss how the games teach academic, social, emotional, and cultural lessons. They receive free digital learning games and curriculum that can be immediately implemented in the classroom.
