As utilities increasingly focus on the importance of asset management for reliable and cost-effective operations, the interest in new and novel approaches grows. This session includes an update on ConEd’s use of robotics for breaker maintenance, Laserpas’ research on combining inspection tools for asset and vegetation inspections, and the US Department of Energy’s innovative advanced sensor development project that includes researching the use of fiber optic sensors for low cost temperature and chemical sensor technology.
