New buyers rarely know what to expect when starting the process of acquiring a DME company. The process can be daunting, especially for uninformed and unprepared buyers. Moreover, COVID-19 continues to impact DME companies in unforeseen ways. This presentation provides an overview of how valuations, financing, and projections have changed and offers thoughts on how such impacts may shape the future of the DME industry. This presentation will discuss the step-by-step process of a typical DME acquisition, which includes: (i) identifying a seller; (ii) the non-disclosure agreement; (iii) the letter of intent; (iv) due diligence; (v) the definitive agreement and ancillary documents; and (vi) the closing table. Finally, this program will include tips for buyers to limit risk, identify issues early, and identify ways buyers may obtain a competitive advantage over uninformed buyers, particularly if a bidding war erupts.
