As a DMEPOS supplier, you know that a compliance program is required; but did you know that it can also save your company money? Medicare overpayment demands are commonplace. In addition, health care fraud and abuse cases continue to make headlines. While those cases are not representative of most suppliers in the industry, they should at least cause some introspection into what "could" happen. If a company has a compliance issue, it could cost significantly more than implementing an effective compliance plan. Compliance plans require regular, routine audits which will identify areas of concern sooner and allow corrective action to be taken quickly, reducing loss to the company. In addition, a compliance plan that addresses the federal sentencing guidelines will result in mandatory penalty reductions in the event of a problem. This presentation will discuss implementation of an effective compliance plan including the benefits of having one in place.
