Tracks: Ironmaking: Blast Furnace Digitization, Control & Modeling

Based on extended knowledge and actual plant operational experiences, the author discusses the strategy of selecting main blast furnace parameters (blast pressure, temperature and volume; oxygen, natural gas and steam injection; and top pressure level) along with a charging mode and scheduled one of blast furnace shutdowns in real situations of the flow of raw materials and fuel. Optimizing productivity and coke consumption cut by top pressure reduction on 50-100 kPa is the preferable move versus decreasing hot blast oxygen enrichment 5-8%. Total pressure drop during operational changes should maintain established. Optimization can be arranged based on real-life situations.
