In recent years, Tenova set out to assist its customers in creating a cyber-physical factory by integrating the enabling technologies of Industry 4.0 in the steelmaking process. An important part of this initiative is the optimization of the scrap management process, with the goal to reduce waste, costs and energy consumptions as well as improve the quality of the product, the uptime of the equipment, and the overall productivity and efficiency of the plant. The presentation describes the various solutions introduced as well as their benefits and the lessons learned during the project implementation.
