Use of Insight Data Management Software to Improve Reliability at NLMK Indiana (Room 205 C)

This paper will describe the ongoing use of a proprietary data management system (Insight) at a Midwestern mini-mill. Insight is a communication and troubleshooting system designed to monitor facility performance in real time. Insight began utilization with respect to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency audits. Previous manual data collection wasn't traceable. There were potential problems and penalties associated with maintenance of the previous data collection system. An iPad fleet was configured with the Insight app to make data collection throughout the mill easier and reliable. An explosion in data points allows for trend analysis in all operating areas. A reduction in operating hours has already been realized. Document security and traceability have been strengthened.
