U.S. steelmaking is the smallest contributor of CO2 emissions per ton of steel produced in the world, doing its part to prevent climate change and global warming. This is the result of a combination of economic, financial and technological factors that contributed to make U.S. steelmaking a benchmark for green steel production. This paper proves with scientific data the current situation, the technologies that are at the base of such results and the challenges ahead in keeping the industry on this path to be an example for the rest of the world.
