Results of Tool Steel H13, Remelted With New-Generation Electro Slag Remelting With Rotating Electrode Function Unit (Room 205 A)

The challenge posed in this study was to choose of the right method for the development of the new generation of the electro slag remelting (ESR) furnace, especially with the demand to create thinner slag skin, reduce the melt pool depthless and to repress the carbide formation by accurate ingot crystallization during the ESR process. Furthermore, the method defines a specific objective for the implementation. This paper presents an ESR unit with rotating electrode function and implementation of this method for remelting of tool steel grade H13.
