During steelmaking processing, large amounts of data are collected, including chemical composition, amount of additions, temperature measurements and amount of argon stirring. In this paper, ladle furnace time-series data from 258 heats of medium-carbon, Si-bearing, Al-killed steel are analyzed to calculate desulfurization steel mass transfer coefficients, compare their values with empirical correlations and discuss the deviations. Other kinetic phenomena are also discussed in this work, such as Al fade due to steel-slag reactions, Mg pickup in alumina inclusions and the effect of steel chemical composition into post-Ca treatment oxide inclusion composition.
