This session will discuss Cyber Protection Teams (CPTs), an element of the DOD’s cyber force intended to support a military commander's mission capabilities and supporting infrastructure through evaluation and improvement of their mission assurance posture. This will include an overview of CPT mission types: Reconnaissance, Security, Counter-mobility, Defense, and Reset/Reconstitute. The session will also address how CPTs fit as one element of a layered, comprehensive and integrated cyber force they can adapt to meet DODIN defense requirements at the National, Service, Combatant Command (CCMD), and tactical levels. Specifically, the presentation will discuss how CPTs enable the sustainment and enhancement of DOD’s cyberspace defense posture and defend Mission Relevant Cyber Terrain and Key Terrain-Cyber (KT-C). In conclusion the session will examine the deliberate, proactive, and systematic planning approach employed by CPTs; as well as, how CPTs are applied across prioritized DOD missions and, when applicable, to support to incident response actions to mitigate high-risk situations to DOD missions. The session will conclude with a question and answer period to provide the audience an opportunity to gain clarity on individual topics raised during the presentation.
