Affirmative practice is ethical and essential when counseling LGBTQ+ clients. Counselors may wish to embrace a positive, helpful perspective in counseling but may be unsure of what approaches may contribute to affirmative practice. In this session, ALGBTIC’s Social Justice Committee members will explain the purpose of affirmative practice, provide mechanisms to improve affirmative counseling practice, and share case studies to enhance participants’ positive perspective toward LGBTQ+ clients.
