HydroVision International 2015

Session 4F: Valuing Hydro in the Marketplace (Room B115)

Hydropower doesn't only produce energy. It provides many other valuable services -- including ramping, frequency response, storage and regulation -- that contribute to grid stability and the integration of variable energy resources. Whether conventional hydropower and pumped storage can be appropriately compensated for these services will impact how these resources are developed and deployed over the coming decades. Panelists from different markets around the world will discuss current conditions and what can be done to ensure hydropower is appropriately recognized for its contributions to the grid.
