A technical review of the first ever oil and gas industry guidelines developed by major oil companies working together as members of the Helicopter Safety Advisory Council (HSAC).  Although the HSAC forum is directed towards aviation safety in the Gulf of Mexico, the recently developed HSAC guidelines have been introduced as the basis for international recommended practices for the International Oil and Gas Producer's organization (IOGP).
