24 Apr 18
1:15 PM - 2:30 PM

Tracks: Digital Learning Solutions, Technology, Technology

Schools collect, store, use, and share massive amounts of student data each day. Attorney David Rubin will review FERPA regulations designed to protect students’ privacy while allowing for productive use of student data. He’ll also offer best practices to help you respect privacy rights, maximize efficient use of your student data, and minimize legal liability for your district. Importantly, Rubin will address privacy implications of current and emerging technologies. This includes privacy concerns related to web-based IEP programs, “cloud” record storage, classroom apps, classroom video and audio recording, and student tracking devices. And he’ll address issues stemming from your internal child study team communications, as well as emerging state-level Student Online Personal Information Protection Act legislation.
