Tracks: Amazon & Me Workshop

The lines between Amazon’s seller interfaces -- Vendor Central for first-party (1P) sellers and Seller Central for third-party (3P) sellers -- are blurring. If you are a retailer, maybe you have some private label products and it makes sense to enter into a wholesale partnership with Amazon as a first-party (1P) seller. However, if you are a brand, it may be to your advantage to sell direct to Amazon as both a wholesaler (1P) and also as a third-party (3P) marketplace seller, which permits some control over brand positioning and pricing. In this foundational talk, our speaker will review in detail all the capabilities, limitations and tradeoffs of each system. Attendees will take home a proprietary matrix that illustrates when it’s wise to use the first-party (1P) seller interface versus third-party (3P) and when it makes sense to sell on Amazon using both models.
