International Award Winners and the Pride of New Zealand
to exhibit at the 2017 World Tea Expo in Las Vegas in June
For the past 20 years, Zealong Tea Estate, situated in the picturesque rural heartland of New Zealand, has carefully crafted a unique range of teas and captured both the hearts and palates of tea connoisseurs worldwide.
Founded on a passion and dedication for growing tea as nature intended, Zealong is New Zealand’s only commercial tea estate which produces teas free of chemical sprays and with 100% organic certification across New Zealand, Europe, the United States, Canada, and China.
Zealong tea is fully traceable, from soil to first sip. This unique status in the world tea industry is acknowledged by SGS ISO22000 certification across every step of the production process, which means that each batch of tea can be traced back to the place and day on which it was picked.
Each leaf is hand-picked by specialist tea-pickers following century-old traditional practices. 1.2 million tea plants are harvested three times a year on the Estate resulting in a premium organic tea range comprising three oolong varieties, Pure, Aromatic, and Dark, as well as Green and Black tea, all containing vital antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.
Zealong tea bags were launched in 2016 – heralding its premium tea availability in tea bag form for the first time.
Zealong tea bags contain whole leaf grade tea and are pyramid in shape, allowing the full leaves the space to expand and breathe. A strong, clear flavour is created and the tea bags can be re-infused multiple times. No bleach, glues or staples are used in the all-natural bags, which are both safe and environmentally friendly.
Zealong recently won “gold” in two categories and achieved top honours in a third at the Fall 2017 Global Tea Championship in Colorado, USA. The Estate’s Black and Oolong tea bags received first-place honours in their respective categories and the Green tea bags came second in its category.

This achievement is an important milestone for us as the winning teas will now be entitled to proudly display the Global Tea Championship Seal. They will also be showcased in the October 2017 issue of the Global Tea Buyers’ Guide, a digital publication distributed to the international tea community and vertical markets.
Zealong’s honours at the Global Tea Championship are the very latest in a string of global accolades, including a Great Taste Award in the UK and organic beverage awards in Hong Kong and London.
